Wix is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms. But how much does it cost you in terms of payment processing fees? How much does Wix take per sale, and is there a way to avoid the fees? Find the answers below!
Who Can Use Wix Payments?
Firstly, not everyone can accept payments through Wix. Your website needs to be on a business plan (which is a paid plan), and you need to live in one of the 15 supported countries. These include Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA. The only currencies allowed are USD, EUR, CAD, BRL, CHF, and GBP.
Besides, certain products and services aren’t allowed to be sold on Wix. For example, weapons, pornography, airline services, hazardous materials, alcohol (if it’s your main product) and drugs are all off-limits.

How Much Does Wix Take Per Sale?
Let’s assume you live in the United States or Canada. Wix only charges the standard processing fees of 2.9% of the sale plus $0.30. In Europe, the processing fee is a bit lower – 1.9% + 0.3 EUR. In the United Kingdom, the rate is 2.1% + 0.2 GBP. And in Switzerland, it’s 2.3% + 0.3 CHF.
This applies to credit card payments accepted through Wix Payments, as well as other payment methods like PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. There are no additional or hidden fees – what you see is what you get. However, if you refund a customer, the processing fee will not be returned to you. How Does It Compare to Other Ecommerce Platforms?
2.9 percent of an order doesn’t seem like a lot until it adds up. For example, if you sell a $100 product on Wix, you’ll only get to keep $97.1. Sell 100 of these products, and you’ll earn $9,710 instead of $10,000. But how much does Wix take per sale compared to other platforms?
This is actually quite a common fee – Shopify, BigCommerce and Squarespace all charge similar amounts for credit card payments. However, you can avoid transaction fees on Shopify if you use Shopify Payments. This isn’t possible on Wix unless you bypass their system by installing a custom PayPal button on your Wix website.
Wix Payments processing fees are definitely lower than Etsy’s, though. Etsy charges its users 6.5% of every sale, including shipping.
Keep the Transaction Fees in Mind Before Setting Up Your Shop
So, how much does Wix take per sale? Not that much, but it can add up if you’re selling a lot of products. There are few platforms with lower fees, but you may want to compare your options before deciding on Wix. Sometimes, a link to your PayPal or other third-party payment processor is the best option if you’re just starting out with your online store!
